From the recording Dubuque's Heritage, Life in Our Own Backyard
This was a natural attraction and a fabulous place in the early 1900's. My great-grandfather, F.L. Egelhof, took many excellent photographs of the park which are collector's items today. The beginning of the end for the park came in 1919 when a flash flood swept through the valley where the park was located. Five people lost their lives. A few building foundations remain today. Songs help keep the memories alive.
